Sports Psychology Works!

    What Is Sports Psychology?
You would be hard pressed to find any Olympic, Professional, or Major College sports program not using the principles of Sports Psychology. Many of the more financially rich teams, as well as, numerous individual amateur and professional athletes consult with sports psychologists.

Sports psychology develops an athlete's mental preparedness in much the same way physical conditioning prepares the body. Examples of mental training abound in the world of sports and include the following: golf, baseball, football, soccer, gymnastics, swimming, running, basketball, martial arts, etc. Some of the techniques of sports psychology include Visual Imagery Training, Relaxation Techniques, Goal Setting, and Thought Training.

    Importance of Working With An Athlete
Unfortunately, many practitioners of sports psychology are found to be out-of-shape and have no regular training regime.
     
Dr. Gary actively trains Dr. Gary actively trains in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Free-style wrestling, and boxing. He is presently working with a stable of professional fighters to prepare for mixed martial arts competitions. In the past Dr. Gary has worked with athletes from a variety of sports including the following examples: baseball, football, soccer, gymnastics, swimming, running, basketball, skiing, boxing, martial arts...
Dr. Susan maintains an almost daily work out regime. Her focus is working with the more recreational female athlete, whose goals are sustaining motivation, physical fitness and weight loss. Dr. Susan supervised our eating disorders staff dietician for over 14 years and has expertise in that area.
