VISUAL IMAGERY TRAINING:
To improve your visual imagery training you will want to follow these tips to maximize results:
Perfect mental practice takes you closer to perfect performance.
When visualizing your performance it is vitally important to include all your senses modalities including the sense of sight, smell, touch, and hearing. For example, let's take a football player imaging making perfect blocks on the line.
He visualizes himself walking from the huddle to the line.
He visualizes the situation being mindful to include the smells associated with the experience, the feel of the turf on his feet and hands, the sounds associated with the moment, and as much as he can, places himself in that moment. He then guides this imagery to visualize himself making the perfect block, feeling powerful and in control. He imagines the block from contact all the way to completion of the play.
